I got up this morning at 5:15.
The coffee pot woke up with me (since I had enough sense to prepare it last night) and my running gear was waiting on the kitchen counter. I was super quiet and out the door by 5:30.
I drove 15 miles into town for a running date. My date showed up on a motorcycle. That put a smile on my face right off the bat. Even if it was 6am.
We ran 4.65 miles in a little under 42 minutes.
I felt a real sense of accomplishment when this run was over. Phyllis (my date) has run a few half marathons and is one of those women with major stamina and endurance. Something I felt I was lacking. She is a great running partner and I really felt pushed to not slow her down and to prove I was a "real" runner. I got a side stitch (as usual) around 1.5 miles. I walked that one for about 45 seconds before picking up the pace again. The cramp continued but I ran through it. It moved to my other side and then finally left. Now that I know this is possible, I am going to always try and make it past that 1.5 mile cramp without walking. By two miles I was really warmed up. The run became super easy and the hills and false flats didn't even bother me. We came down a super fun hill towards the end and it felt like flying. I honestly think I had at least another mile in me.
After the run we had blended coffees and conversation. It was a lovely start to the day. And blasting through 450 calories before 7am didn't hurt much either!
great job!
ReplyDeleteGood for you for getting out that early! (I always make the coffee at night now, too. Huge incentive to get back to hot coffee).
ReplyDeleteThere is nothing better than a good running date, especially one who comes in on a motorcycle!
It sounds like you had a great run : )
