{Fat Girl Running}

Hey there! My name is Ashley. So nice to meet you. In August of 2009 I made up my mind to transform myself. My body, my diet, my mood, my mind. I began walking, pushing that dreaded jog stroller for all I was worth. A month after that I discovered C25K through a friend. After the first few weeks of torture I was hooked. I finished C25K in January and began to increase my training. I also made some serious diet modifications after the Holiday season (cause boy do I like eat) and went from weighing 175lbs to 138lbs. I started competing in races, completing 5K's, 10K's, and a half-marathon. I got down to my lowest weight of 127lbs. I was pretty damn skinny.

A knee injury landed me in the gym for rehab in early 2011. I was back to running in a few months after trying my best to keep up my cardio on the elliptical and doing some baby weight lifting. I had just gotten my mileage back up when I had some serious kidney stone issues. My ten mile runs were cut short by horrendous pain. I nearly gave up running altogher. It took nearly a year for the kidney stone issue to be resolved through surgery. Once I was able to run again, I really didn't want to. I struggled through runs. Hating every minute of it. I was very nearly depressed because I just didn't love running like I used to. During my almost two year hiatus where I was only running every few weeks at most, I put on 30lbs. In January of 2014 I decided that it was bullshit. I got my weight back down to 140 and started working out regularly. Then in September I had a tummy tuck.

Now its almost 2015. I'm running three times a week again. Training for a half-marathon in April. Spending three days a week in my home gym. I'm on a mission again. I don't want to just be skinny, I want to be strong. I'm in the process of getting my personal trainer certification.

I blog about my personal life over at Ashley In Arkansas.
